Ruben 'Swift' Vidal of DJN Project is about to launch his own label Sugar Groove, and based on what this paramount sampler has to offer this is a label to follow closely. Kenny Bobien's "What a way" will get re-released complete with an incredible remix from Jeremias 'FTL' Santiago, as will Juan Sanchez' wicked "Something". Next will be "I am your vitamin" by Jeremias 'FTL' Santiago featuring uber cool spoken words and phat keys over thrilling rhythms, and the amazing "Afro hard" by Swift of DJN Project. But this is not all as there are some killer remixes to be found as well: Rick James timeless classic "Ghetto life" gets transformed into a 4/4 monster jam by Jeremias 'FTL' Santiago, DJN Project's "Wheel of love" returns in an awesome organic 2012 version, and then there is Swift's celestial interpretation of "The power" by Len Peters featuring house diva Michelle Weeks which we must have been listening to a dozen times a day... |

"Casual people", one of the standout tracks from Khanya Balani's album "Vanity" released in late 2011, gets a well deserved full single release which includes a stellar selection of remixes. Mikki Afflick and Trinidadian Deep team up for an ethereal slice of deepness combining Nkuli Dube's sultry vocals with killer keys, Bradford James enters deepest grounds on his hypnotizing yet smooth dub, 60 Hertz Project relax the vibe and inject their beloved jazz inspired sound, John Crockett adds his signature New Jersey touch complete with grand keys, and finally Tyrone Francis turns the track into a thrilling affair featuring jazzy keys and atmospheric synths over impulsive percussive rhythms. Also included is Khanya Balani's original extended mix. Essential, by no means to be missed. |
