Pick of the Week: Aki Dawson "Here we go" / "Just another day" (Seed Recordings Promo)

Chicago's own Aki Dawson returns to Seed Recordings with a paramount two track EP by no means to be missed. First up is the glorious instrumental track "Here we go" oozing with a mellifluous jazzy vibe, coming complete with an extended edit by Bradford James. Next we have the glamorous soulful gem "Just another day" featuring the fabulous spirited vocals of Teresa R Casey (with backing vocals by Aki Dawson) and sumptuous keys over smooth yet relentlessly thumpin' rhythms. The track has been reworked by Bradford James into a deeply groovin' undeniably mesmeric late night affair sure to send shivers down your spine.

Without question, Phuture Soul Musik truly bless us with the "Deep Within EP", a collaborative project by Bristol's soulful house maestro Sean McCabe and Brussels-based rising star Rosie from the Block. This awe-inspiring EP laced with the amazing vocals and spoken word poetry of Rosie from the Block kicks of with the lively mid-tempo bruk soul track "Rise above" sure to make you yearn for more (a bonus dub of the cut is likewise included). Next up is "Wake up" an edgy up-tempo track continuing in the broken vein that is sure to get your feet movin'. Finally there is "Water" an ingenious deep house track oozing with an elegant indisputably enchanting late night vibe.

In February of this year, we were celebrating the second single from Fred Everything's critically acclaimed album "Love, care, kindness & hope", the towering "Breathe" laced with the incomparable temping vocals of UK singer James Alexander. Now this proven dance floor favorite returns ins awe-inspiring remixes by Rocco Rodamaal who takes the track to a whole different level by adding his trademark mesmeric deep house touch, blessing us with not less than five mixes. Also included are two previously unreleased Fred Everything mixes: a more stripped down longer version of the original, and the uber cool celestial 'Lazy Dub'.

The wonderful soulful house production "So long" by London soulful dance music duo 2fox (aka Max SinĂ l and Renell Shaw) featuring the amazing sultry vocals of Liam Bailey and BB James was originally released in December of last year, now Soul Quest Records present a dope remix package of the song. First up is Manoo with a timeless uber soulful interpretation sure to make you yearn for more. Next are Coflo's 'Stripped Mix' that takes things down toe amazing vocals, piano and bass is simply outstanding, and David Bailey's glamorous late night rework that is downright enthralling. Finally, Oliver Night provides a grandiose broken beat rendition to close out the release.

Out now on POJI Records is the second and final prelude of Ed Ramsey's upcoming album "Love shaker" (to be released in September), a scintillating remake of Denroy Morgan's 1981 disco/boogie classic "I'll do anything for you". First up we have DJ Oji gracing us with a glorious soulful house re-imagination of the original perfectly showcasing Ed Ramsey's eminent rendition of the unforgettable lyrics.
