Finally the wait is over as "Hostile takeover" by songstress Lynn Lockamy, our favorite track from Soulful Session's (Simon 'Schoolboy' Phillips) "The Future Divas EP" reviewed here on Spirit of House back in May, gets a full single release loaded with a paramount selection of timeless soulful remixes by an illustrious list of legendary producers. The likes of Tony Humphries (his first ever remix for his own label), Director's Cut (Frankie Knuckles & Eric Kupper), DJ Spen & N'Dinga Gaba, Kenny Carpenter and David Harness add their signature touch to the song, taking Lynn Lockamy's inimitable deep-rooted vocals to all new heights - quite simply, it is next to impossible to pick a favorite version as each of these interpretations is guaranteed to jam-pack the floor and put a spell on you... A definite contender for song of the year. |

Classically trained violinist Chieko Kinbara has been working with many of house music' biggest producers and artists in the past, now for her latest release she teams up with keyboardist and vocalist Josh Milan, one half of the legendary duo Blaze. "Higher love" remixed by Italy's Souldynamic uses smoothly bouncin' slightly afrocentric rhythms as playground for super delicious melodies, Josh Milan's inspiring vocals and Chieko Kinbara's grandiose violin solos. Tony Loreto contributes a gorgeous Latin infused rendition of "Give me your love" which combines Josh Milan's inimitable vocals and Chieko Kinbara's one-of-a-kind violin strokes with gentle tribal-esque rhythms and sublime keys. In other words, two paramount soulful gems both having timeless written all over. By no means to be missed... |
