Our final Pick of the Week for 2023 is this indisputably fabulous remake of the all-time house music anthem "Tears" by Chicago's own Elbert Phillips and singer/songwriter Andre Espeut to be released digitally through ChilliFunk Records and on limited 12" vinyl through Yore Records. Without any question, this respectful and undeniably scintillating interpretation featuring a masterly orchestration (intriguing drums by Elbert Phillips, gentle percussion and heavenly synths by Tom Laroye, illustrious keys by William Kurk, wicked guitars by Shamrock Guitor and sublime saxophone by Evan Tate) alongside an awe-inspiring rendition of the unforgettable lyrics by Andre Espeut is sure to make you yearn for more... Beyond doubt, Consuela Ivy delivers an amazing truly eminent rendition of the memorable lyrics on the K'Ture and DJ Oji produced remake offered in two equally breathtaking interpretations. Kicking things off is an impeccable unquestionably glamorous tribute to the timeless Fingers Inc. original, followed by the ingenious 'Groove & Bang' mix oozing with a fresh organic vibe that is soulful yet captivating. In other words, this outstanding take on the Fingers Inc. classic is sure to send shivers down your spine...

In November of last year, we were celebrating Harold Matthews Jr's downright phenomenal "Peripheral vision" full length album, a genre-spanning journey drawing influences from a multitude of angles and providing a true reflection of Harold Matthews Jr's passion for song writing and spoken word. In April respectively in May of this year , Good Vibrations Music gave us "Peripheral Revision EP Vol. 1" and "Peripheral Revision EP Vol. 2", now to conclude Harold Matthews Jr's "Peripheral vision" album project, the label has pulled together a collection of remixes of songs from the album (including three previously unreleased remixes). The likes of Glenn Underground, Kaidi Tatham, Turbojazz, Wipe The Needle, Piers Kirwan, Haze City, Urban Soul Lab and label owner Sean McCabe have all added their magical touch to bless us with an immaculate selection of remixes touching various corners of soulful house, broken beat, nu jazz and hip-hop, perfectly complimenting Harold Matthew's unmatched lyrical style alongside guest vocalists.

Finally, Bayacou Records get ready to unveil "Take me home" the long awaited collaboration album between DJ/producer/multi-instrumentalist Ezel and singer/songwriter Rona Ray in early 2024. Indisputably, the duo have created a timeless masterpiece which features their previous hit singles "History repeating", "Don't know yet", "No gravity" and "Hard to stay away" alongside a beautiful intro track and ten new songs (including the title track just released on promo). To make it short, "Take me home" perfectly showcases Ezel's unmatched musicianship, ingenuity and versatility as well as the unrivaled and truly impeccable vocal stylings of Rona Ray; beyond question this absolutely phenomenal album is by no means to be missed.
