What an exquisite selection of soulful tunes we have for you this week.. enjoy !!

Davidson Ospina featuring Michael Wheatley "I.O.U" (Ospina Digital CD Promo)

Remember our review from April 2011 when we first brought this gem to your attention...? It was the year 1983 when this now timeless club anthem by Freeez (produced by Arthur Baker and mixed by the trio of Arthur Baker, John 'Jellybean' Benitez & John Robie) saw the light of the day. Davidson Ospina takes on what he describes as 'one of my all time favorite records' to add his distinctively deep and contaminous yet melodious touch to the track, featuring stunning vocals by Michael Wheatley - a secret weapon since being made available to us last year...

Cathy Battistessa "Une nouvelle humanite" (Peng CD Promo)

With "Une nouvelle humanite" by Cathy Battistessa, Peng grace us with one of those releases where it is virtually impossible to choose a favorite version as they are all simply phenomenal and put Cathy Battistessa's angelic vocals to full effect... First up is Andy Compton's organic funk drenched 'Rurals Remix' featuring glorious keys by Andy Barton and spell binding bass by Andy Barton, followed by his 'Peng Mix', an utterly soulful deep house rendition featuring precious rhodes and moog by Pete Morris. Last but no least we have Da Capo adding his beloved deep South African touch fueled with celestial melodies to the song.

HT Zero featuring Stephanie Cooke "I used to" (FastFWD CD Promo)

The wonderful "I used to" by HT Zero and the legendary Stephanie Cooke gets a welcome release on FastFWD who present a package loaded with slammin' remixes taking Stephanie Cooke's inimitable vocals to the next level. First up we have Just One who contributes two wicked versions, the first one being on a swingin' four-to-the-floor tip, while the second one is a dubby broken beat affair. Alvaro Enestro serves a blissful deep house interpretation laced with lush melodies, while Sandman & Riverside turn out a percussive Disco and Latin inspired version. Finally, Rob Slac offers a slinky dub oozing with a classy late night feel.

Gladly this beautiful production featuring sultry vocals by Ckenz Voucal (aka Khensani) and luscious keys over deep'n'smooth yet infectious rhythms is scheduled for a single release in the next couple of week. Mustafa featuring Lisa Millett "Wake up everybody" (Staff Productions CD Promo)

Brazil's Mustafa joins forces with songstress Lisa Millett to present a marvelous cover of the Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes classic "Wake up everybody". His old school inspired 'Classic Mix' features the unmistakable vocals of Lisa Millett alongside sublime keys over funked-up rhythms, stripped down on the 'Acoustic Mix' to the vocals, strings and keys. Sunlightsquare and Robert Rivera & Matt Early provide the remixes, staying true to the vibe and feel of the original while adding their signature touch to the song.

JoVonn "Blues house" (Room Control Records CD Promo)

The one and only JoVonn is pulling out all the stops on this ingenious production where he takes us back to what is nowadays known as 'classic house music'. Fierce moody rhythms, matchless keys and wicked spoken words create a genuine underground flavored vibe as only JoVonn can do, letting us re-experience and reminisce this unforgotten time. Seascape gives the track a futuristic feel on his seminal deep house workout, while Marlon D & Mena Keys take us straight to a jazz club with their masterly orchestrated jazzed-up interpretation.

Exclusive Preview: Club Des Belugas "Wearing out my shoes" (Sounds of Soul Retouch)(CD-R)
Exclusive Preview: Marlon Wells "Broken heart" (Sounds of Soul Rework)(CD-R)

We are happy to have Mark Jordan back on Spirit of House as he continues to bless us with his delightful edits. As with his previous submissions, we are lovin' his uplifting sun drenched reworks of "Wearing out my shoes" by Club Des Belugas and "Broken heart" by Marlon Wells as they successfully manage to keep the original vibe intact whilst giving the songs a new direction - in other words: subtle housed-up interpretations that stay respectful to the original versions.
