Volume seven in the highly acclaimed "Neal Conway Classic Revisited" series has just been released to digital music stores, volume 8 is just around the corner and then we've already got some very early details what you can expect on volume nine tentatively scheduled for a December release. We are going to keep it short and sweet with this review by just saying that Neal Conway has done it again and drops stellar four-to-the-floor re-imaginations that keep the spirit of the original alive yet transform the songs into soulful truly spell binding dance floor anthems. On volume 7 you get: The Four Tops "I'll be there", Level 42 "Starchild", Pattie LaBelle "If only you know" and "Music is my way of live", and Minnie Ripperton "Inside my love". Volume 8 includes an alternate version of "Inside my love" by Minnie Ripperton, "As" and "Isn't she lovely" by Stevie Wonder, "Are you man enough" by The Four Tops, and finally "Stop in the name of love" by The Supremes.
Sipho Ngubane "Art of Simplicity EP" (Soulful Sentiments Records CD Promo)
South Africa's Sipho Ngubane has been on a roll recently, unleashing one soulful gem after another... His "Art of Simplicity EP" is no exception, with both included tracks guaranteed to cast a spell on you. "Guitar capo" is super smooth and soulful, with deep dulcet rhythms leading the way for enchanting synth melodies and a sublime guitar, while the glorious mesmerizingly deep "Who" is fueled with luscious keys, melancholic chords and the seductive vocal stylings of Grace.
Joe Smooth featuring Paris Brightledge "We've got to love" (Indie Art Music CD Promo)
The original version of "We've got to love" by legendary producer Joe Smooth and house music vocalist extraordinaire Paris Brightledge (originally released beginning of 2012 on the "Spread the Love EP" through Obelisk Production Multimedia) is a trip down memory lane to early Chicago House Music, oozing with the signature Joe Smooth sound and Paris Brightledge's one-of-a-kind vocals. The packages features an eclectic selection of remixes, the soulful heads will without the doubt fall in love with the glamorous truly uplifting rework by Director's Cut (Frankie Knuckles & Eric Kupper) and Gifted Soul's utterly infectious yet melodious and soulful banger. Those liking there house music funky gotta check out Superfunk's phat 'Mineapolis Remix'.
Andy Compton featuring Rogiers "Last night in Jozi" (Peng CD Promo)
Andy Compton truly graces us with this magnificent release, with the music made on the last night of his recent stay in Jozi (Johannesburg) using his mobile studio. The vocals by Rogiers were later on added back home in Bristol, quite simply the result is sheer musical bliss... "Last night in Jozi" is deep and soulful yet mesmerizing, oozing with Rogiers unmistakable vocals and heavenly melodies. The alternate 'Sax Mix' features the moody jazz sax atmosphere Charlie Hearnshaw is famous for. "Now that I see" is deep and moody yet a bit dirty, putting the unique silky voice of Rogiers to full effect. The alternate version of this track replaces the vocals with a delectable guitar solo. Lastly, there is the instrumental "Greenside" a deep laidback groover laced with entrancing melodies.
Roland Clark "I get deep" (Richard Earnshaw, Madji'k & Gary Tuohy Mixes)(Deeptown Music CD Promo)
In 2007, Deeptown Music was launched with the inaugural release being courtesy of DJ Le Roi who worked the legendary Roland Clark acapella "I get deep" to magic. In September of this year, part one of the remixes saw the light of the day, now part two is here. From Richard Earnshaw comes a truly ingenious re-imagination fusing the vocals with an infectious organic backdrop and wicked jazzy saxophone. Next up, Gary Tuohy and Madji'k deliver sure-fire prime time weapons guaranteed to cause a stir on the floor.
Reel Gruv featuring Luciano "Supernatural love" (Bodikela Recordings CD Promo)
The latest offering from Bodikela Recordings is the blissful "Supernatural love" by Reel Gruv, a silky smooth and melodious yet utterly tantalizing slice of masterly crafted afro-deepness which uses deeply thumpin' rhythms as playground for illustrious keys and dreamy chords, not to forget to mention the beautiful haunting vocals by Luciano. "A woman's nature" is the forthcoming release for Martin Mamzer aka Aphreme on his own label Octave Moods, and what a musical treat it is... "A woman's nature" is all about the smooth'n'deep rhythms, glamorous keys and celestial chords which altogether spread an uplifting feel guaranteed to put a spell on you. Included in the package are a wonderful reprise version and two stripped-back dub mixes giving the track a more organic truly rich feel.
Traxx Pick #2: Anthony K "My happiness" (AbicahSoul Recordings CD Promo)
Courtesy of Anthony K and AbicahSoul Recordings comes the amazing "My happiness", a splendiferous production which combines a gentle organic backdrop and heavenly chords with grand jazzy piano and gorgeous guitars by Dimitris Keramidakis into a jaw-dropping jewel oozing with a spiritual Balearic-esque vibe. The 'Rhythm Inside Piano Mix' is on a somewhat more laidback tip and gives the track a more percussive feel.
