Afro Deep Pick: Ubizo Cafe "The calling" (FOMP CD Promo)
From the motherland comes this blazin' hot three track release by Ubizo Cafe aka renowned production team Stones & Bones. "Drum, rock, sax" is an utterly infectious afro deep track laced with splendiferous saxophone, ethereal melodies and ruthless afro-tribal rhythms. "Stay with me" is an inebriant deep'n'soulful track featuring the charming vocals of Adele Wyngaard alongside heavenly melodies over intriguing rhythms. Finally, there is the utterly hypnotizing and celestial afrotastic remix by Ubizo Cafe of "Move your nyash" by Shockwave featuring Moccachino Ochi (originally released beginning of the year on Soul Candi Records).
Bootleg Pick: St. Germain "Sittin' here" (Manousos ReWork)(CD-R)
In October, St. Germain (Ludovic Navarre) released his third studio album, the follow-up to "Boulevard" (1995) and "Tourist" (2000). The album includes many gems to discover, one of the standout tracks is Sittin' here" which has been given a wonderful makeover by Manousos whose inspiring rendition stays true to the original yet gives the song a mesmerizing feel, always letting the beautiful original orchestration and vocals shine through.
