In July 2024, Bridgeport Records a collaboration between deep house producer/DJ Vick Lavender and former labor leader Jerry Morrison, opened its doors in Chicago.
The store's indisputably eclectic vinyl collection has been curated by Vick Lavender and represents the varied musical influences on his life. The shop sells jazz, hip-hop, soul, alternative rock, and dance music from a heap of sub genres, as per Vick Lavender half of the stock is new.
Vick Lavender's 30 year music career is synonymous with deep house, but includes forays into r&b, afro and latin beats, not to forget to mention broken beat. He has entranced audiences around the world with his ingenious productions and his celebrated DJ sets in the best clubs from Paris, France to Johannesburg, South Africa. Working with such heavy hitters as Joe Claussel, Albert Sterling Menendez, Abicah Soul, Angel-A and many more, his own label Sophisticado Recordings has become a major force in the house music scene.
