"Inner City Blues (make me wanna holler)" is a song by Marvin Gaye released as the third and final single from his 1971 landmark album "What's going on". The song was covered in the past by an illustrious list of artists such as Groover Washington Jr., Gil Scott-Heron, Joe Cocker, Angela Winbush and The Chi-Lites to name just a few. Past October, we've been celebrating the release of "First kiss", a marvelous soulful production produced by Luyo and Federico D'Alessio performed in grand style by Marc Evans. Spellband deliver what is best described as a soulful peak time anthem, with Marc Evans one-of-a-kind heartfelt vocals being accompanied by wicked keys and irresistibly vibrant rhythms. Fabio Tosti alongside production partner K-Max inject a serious dose of funk yet keeping the overall vibe soulful, and lastly N'Dinga Gaba contributes a masterly crafted interpretation on a fabulous organic jazz infused tip.

Ferry Ultra featuring Gwen McCrae "Let me do my thang" (Opolopo Remixes)(Peppermint Jam Records CD Promo)

Beginning of 2009 we've reviewed the original version "Let me do my thang" by Ferry Ultra, an old skool tinged soul-funk masterpiece on a mid-tempo tip, featuring the unmistakable vocals from the legendary Gwen McCrae. From Opolopo (Peter Major) come brand new remixes which turn the song into an absolutely irresistible funked-up boogie-esque dance floor bomb oozing with the incomparable beloved Opolopo sound. The hypnotizing dub gives the track a somewhat dirtier feel, not to forget to mention the left field jazz inspired "Jazzinezz" being included as a bonus track.

Tony Soul "Lets go" (JusVibe Records CD Promo)

Blade Deep and 4matiq team up with Tony Soul for "Lets go", a tribute to how a DJ connects with the dancer. "Lets go" is an utterly tempting slice of late night bliss, with deeper than deep relentlessly thumpin' rhythms leading the way for Tony Soul's inspiring vocals and glorious keys, altogether spreading a mesmerizing vibe you can't resist to dance to. South Africa's Cultured Records are about to release a real delight with the "Lord knows I do EP" by S.A.N and vocalist Darian Crouse. Quite simply, Darian Crouse's incomparable deeply rooted vocals together with the dazzling atmospheric melodies and riveting deep rhythms are guaranteed to send shivers down your spine. The remixes are courtesy of Urban Musique, Mr Boogie & Creso, Dima Studitsky and Rufus T, all adding their signature deep touch, making it next to impossible to pick a favorite version.

Marc Tasio "Soul in Love EP" (HSR Records CD Promo)

French DJ/producer Marc Tasio follows up his recent smash single "New love" with the stellar "Soul in Love EP" featuring brand new collaborations with Bibi Provence, Paula P'Cay and MJ White. Included on the EP are "Close to you" and "I thought you were my guy" both featuring Bibi Provence's passionate vocals, "Is it love" featuring the seductive vocals of Paula P'Cay and finally "Unconditional love" featuring the inimitable emotive vocals of MJ White. Each of these tracks is soulful yet full of uplifting energy, in other words what you get are four sure-fire prime time weapons guaranteed to send the floor into a frenzy.

In late February we introduced you to the DJ Spen & Soulfuledge remixes of "Hold on" taken from Lilac Jeans highly acclaimed debut artist album "Now or never", now fresh remixes from Hood Natives have arrived. Their 'Deeper Club Mix' is an enticing deepened rework which combines the beautiful haunting vocals of Kele B with glamorous keys and gentle yet captivating rhythms, while the 'Soul Mix' is an enthralling smoothly thumpin' rendition laced with grandiose jazzy piano and luscious keys.

DeepStitched Records grace us with a marvelous truly deepalicious gem courtesy of DJ Funk T entitled "The beast in you". Deep dulcet rhythms serve as playground for Lady Mya's tantalizing spoken word poetry and for lush keys and chords - sheer musical bliss. Originally reviewed here on Spirit of House in September of last year, "Painless ways" by Richard Brooks (co-produced by Ali Black and featuring sweet vocals by songstress Tamika Boyce) returns in brand new remixes guaranteed to jam-pack the floor. First up, Ali & Calero contribute an utterly hypnotizing celestial synth enriched deep dub workout which puts the sumptuous saxophone to full effect.
