Jesse Saunders - In Their Own Words

In late 2007, house music legend Jesse Saunders published his first book "House Music:The Real Story", earlier this year his second book "In Their Own Words" hit the shelves. The book tells the story of the evolution of dance music from Disco to the various genres of Electronic Dance Music (most prominently House and its various genres) in the words of those individuals who lived, loved and discovered it, providing personal perspectives beyond the usual scope of journalists, famous DJ's and historians.

The book is a truly interesting and revealing read for those who were to young (or otherwise not able) to witness the disco and house movements themselves as it goes beyond telling the well-known story how House Music was born in Chicago and the influence that DJ's such Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy and clubs such as the Warehouse and the Music Box had on modern dance music culture. In lieu thereof the individual stories take you on an enlightening journey from the time before there was Disco and House to the modern days of Electronic Dance Music, they illustrate how House Music evolved from other musical genres and how House Music started to conquer the world.

Without doubt, the book will make you reminisce your own discovery of Disco and/or House Music (or any other form of modern dance music), and it will bring back long forgotten memories of a time we were young and danced the night away...
